01Overview

Is Springtown, Texas a good place to live?

For buyers who want new construction or an acre of land at a lower price point, Springtown is worth a look. The typical home value is about $389,000, new homes start around the low $300s, and several communities have no HOA or MUD. The trade-offs are a district-level TEA rating of C (76 in 2025, 77 in 2026), though Springtown High earned a B (83), a 36-minute drive to downtown Fort Worth, and a combined rate of about 2% inside city limits.

Springtown began as Littleton’s Springs, named by early settler Joseph Ward, and was renamed in the mid-1870s. A post office opened in 1875, and the town incorporated in 1884, the same year the College Hill Institute was chartered here. The historic Springtown Tabernacle still stands near downtown.

Growth has picked up sharply. The Census Bureau estimates Springtown grew from about 3,060 residents in 2020 to 5,204 in July 2025, roughly 70% in five years. Most of that is new single-story production homes and one-acre homesites, with builders such as Century Communities, Riverside Homebuilders and Trinity Classic Homes active in and around town.

Springtown sits where SH-199 and SH-51 meet, about 13 minutes northwest of Azle and 25 minutes north of Weatherford. Many homes with a Springtown address are outside city limits on wells and septic, which keeps tax bills lower but means checking utilities carefully.

Local tip from Brandi

Inside city limits the 2025 rate is about 2.00%, but just outside the city, with Springtown ISD and the ESD, it’s about 1.61%. On a $390,000 home that’s roughly $1,500 a year, so we compare both before you choose a lot.
