01Overview

Is Aledo, Texas a good place to live?

For many buyers, yes. Aledo ISD earned an A from TEA in 2025 (district 92, Aledo High 93) and again in 2026, and Aledo High holds a record 12 state football titles. Homes range from new master-planned neighborhoods to gated two- and three-acre estates, about 26 minutes from downtown Fort Worth. The trade-offs are price (a typical value near $542,000), a total tax rate around 2% or more, and the fact that most “Aledo” addresses are outside the small city itself, so taxes and services vary street by street.

Aledo began as a farming settlement first called Parker’s Station. When the Texas and Pacific Railway came through, a railroad official suggested renaming it after his hometown of Aledo, Illinois, and an Aledo post office opened in 1882. By 1915 it was the retail center of eastern Parker County, with a cotton gin, a bank and about 20 businesses. The city incorporated in 1963.

Growth arrived as Fort Worth spread west. The city grew from about 1,000 residents in 1980 to 4,858 in 2020, and the Census Bureau estimates 7,122 in July 2025, up about 46% in five years. The city itself covers only about 2.6 square miles, but the Aledo ZIP code and Aledo ISD reach much further, taking in Willow Park, Hudson Oaks, the three Annettas, unincorporated Parker County and the Walsh master plan inside Fort Worth city limits.

That mix is what makes Aledo distinctive: production homes on 50- to 70-foot lots in Walsh and Morningstar, gated acreage in Bear Creek Ranch, and horse properties with barns and arenas on the county roads around town, all zoned to the same school district.

Local tip from Brandi

An Aledo address does not always mean the City of Aledo. Walsh is inside Fort Worth city limits with a PID (about 2.69% total), homes outside any city skip city tax but often add an ESD or a $1.00 MUD, and acreage may be on a well and septic. We check the tax certificate and utilities for every address before you compare prices.

04Market

Aledo real estate market

Zillow’s typical Aledo home value was about $541,900 in September 2026, down about 1.2% from a year earlier, with homes going pending in around 40 days. In ZIP 76008, which reaches well beyond city limits, Realtor.com counted 199 active listings in September 2026 (down 24% year over year) at a median list price of about $699,600, up 21% as larger new homes made up more of the inventory. The median listing had been on the market 78 days, and about 21% of listings showed a price cut.

Fewer listings and more pending sales than a year ago mean well-priced Aledo homes still move, while new-construction buyers in Walsh and Morningstar can often negotiate rate buy-downs or closing costs. Acreage and horse properties trade on their own terms: land, water, barns and fencing drive value more than square footage.

For 2026, Aledo ISD lowered its rate to $1.1775, its eighth straight cut, while Weatherford College adopted $0.114716.
